Indication

A nutritional aid in dogs and cats in the management of mid to end-stage renal disease. The chitosan binds dietary phosphate while the citrate alkalinises — the two interventions that most reliably change the course of chronic renal disease.

Protocol

Days 1 – 10 · loading

Twice daily

1 tablet per 10 kg bodyweight, morning and evening.

Day 11 onward · maintenance

Once daily

1 tablet per 10 kg bodyweight, for the rest of the pet’s life.

For my cat

I bought this for my almost 17 year old with CKD. She is also on Hill Science Prescription diet k/d. I have to crush the pill up since she is quite picky with food, and mix with wet food. She is eating a bit more so hopefully it is a helpful supplement for her long term.

Have started giving my 15 year old chihuahua these tablets as a kidney support - he seems to have a better appetite!

I changed from a more expensive, clay-based litter, and this is so much better! It is aesthetically pleasing, it prevents any smell, my cats changed very easily and are very happy, and it is very fast-acting.
